Chairman of Savanna Initiatives (SI) organization based in Nairobi, Kenya
Key responsibilities:
– Set up a non-profit organization, SI, in Kenya aimed at supporting vulnerable communities by improving educational institutions, tackling climate change, and encouraging youth innovation.
– Strategic Development: Developed a comprehensive five-year strategic plan (2023-2028) for Savanna Initiatives.
– Financial Growth: Concentrated on building financial resources through the creation of various projects.
Achievements:
– Research: Conducted extensive research on the Kenyan development landscape, leading to the founding of Savanna Initiatives.
– Partnerships: Established connections with EU institutions in Sweden, Portugal, and Ireland for potential Erasmus applications for vocational education and training (VET) schools in Kenya.
– Local Collaborations: Formed partnerships with the Kenyan Chamber of Commerce and two VET schools in Nairobi for the Erasmus+ project.
– Project Coordination: Became Project Coordinator for the Erasmus+ project, Entrepreneurship & Digital Transformation (DiT-ENT), engaging with local communities and gathering a diverse group of 12 key community members.
– Impact: The DiT-ENT project, ending in December 2025, is expected to benefit approximately 1,340 VET students and trainees at the involved schools.

Key responsibilities
encompassed organizing the communication framework of the Office of the Puntland President, producing a variety of content including public statements and reports, and overseeing media relations through the development of speeches and presentations.
Achievements:
– Supported the office of the President through the translation of government documents between English and Somali, while also assisting in the drafting of 16 press releases and various internal communications.
– Successfully trained and mentored 21 communications officers within Puntland State institutions, equipping them with essential skills in audio-visual production and website management, particularly utilizing WordPress CMS.
– Conducted a thorough communication and media assessment across 21 institutions, identifying existing strengths, weaknesses, and gaps in communication practices. This assessment served as the foundation for developing a comprehensive communications and media strategy, action plan, and budget for the period from 2020 to 2024.
– Established and managed social media platforms for the President, fostering two-way communication with citizens. As of March 2025, the Facebook and Twitter accounts have amassed significant followings, surpassing 417,000 and 164,000, respectively, with diligent monitoring to gather feedback and drive continuous improvement.

Support the establishment of the NAO Office in Somalia.
Enhance the visibility of EU-funded projects and programs in Somalia.
Key achievements:
Collaborated with the Ministry of Planning and the EU Delegation to facilitate the establishment of the NAO, focusing on improving the visibility of EU-funded initiatives.
Conducted five capacity-building training sessions for 16 staff members (nine male and seven female) from the NAO and MOPIED. The training covered videography and editing, graphic design, and photography.
Drafted 26 weekly reports summarizing the activities of the NAO office and the project, shared with donors.
Developed a Communication and Visibility Strategy and action plan (2019-2020) for the NAO Office.

Key responsibilities:
– Project Participation: Engaged in the EU-funded project E-Platform (http://tellingtherealstory.org/)aimed at informing East African migrants about the realities of moving to Europe.
– Community Engagement: Led focus group discussions to mobilize Somali and Eritrean diaspora communities for better outreach.
– Public Outreach Support: Assisted in developing campaign materials and messages targeting audiences in Somalia, Ethiopia and Sudan.
Achievements:
– Video Storytelling: Captured five short video stories of Somali youth detailing their perilous journeys across the Mediterranean and through Europe, providing insights and advice for potential migrants.
– Video Editing Contributions: Edited 11 videos, including adding Somali to English subtitles for five stories, and enhanced video quality through grading and audio cleaning.
– Awareness Campaigns: Supported communication and dissemination efforts to raise awareness within the Somali community across Sweden, Norway, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Sudan by sharing youth stories.
– Social Media Engagement: Shared captured stories on E-platform’s social media, monitored public reactions, and produced eight social media monitoring reports with summaries, insights, and recommendations.
